Portrait of a Gentleman
Charles Goldsborough Anderson
(British, 20th century)
Oil on canvas
112x86.5cms

This portrait came to the studio with a varnish that had not only yellowed but also had ugly patches of blanching. The blanching was in the varnish layer and was there probably as a result of the painting being exposed to excessive moisture. In the removal of the varnish the blanching could also be removed.
